I’m a little drunk. I accidentally farted in front of my boyfriend, and then I got the giggles and choked on my hair because it got stuck in my mouth.
I am a hot mess.
Time for bed.

I miss my longer hair. Too bad it’s so thin I can’t do anything with it when it’s long.
Hate my hair so much.
So…. I’m trying the ginger hair again… we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully better than last time!

i only wash my hair about once a week. less is always more.
Awesome! I feel like I’m going to have a rough time transitioning and getting used to letting my hair be a little dirty… but I’m gonna tough it out and see how it goes. And I’m tapering off the cleaning too… right now it’s every other day, or every third day… then I’ll go down to every fourth or fifth day, and so on. Hopefully I can stick with it!
So… last week I stopped washing my hair.
Did that get your attention? Good. By ‘stopped washing’ I mean stopped using shampoo and conditioner. What’s my reasoning for this, you ask? Lately I’ve been losing more hair than normal. I know it’s common to lose hundreds of hairs every day, but I really feel like my hair loss is getting out of hand. I’d read about going ‘no poo’ a while ago, and always thought it was interesting.. but I was never ballsy enough to try it. I stopped blowdrying my hair a couple of weeks ago (sometimes I cheat and blowdry my bangs though) and this seemed like the next logical step.
I have really fine, thin hair… hair that needed a wash every morning or I’d end up looking like a total greaseball. It won’t hold a style for anything, and even if I blow-dryed it upside down with a ton of mousse/gel/hairspray… it would still fall flat within an hour or so. Volumizing shampoos and conditioners don’t help one darn bit either.
The thing about shampoo is that it totally strips your hair and scalp of all the natural oils that are there to protect and nourish them. Which is why we’re told to follow with conditioner, to seal up the hair follicles and make everything look healthy. Well…… I’m done with that.
Last week, I started cleansing my scalp with a mixture of baking soda (about 2 tablespoons I think) and water (a cup or two). Then I rinsed my ends with apple cider vinegar, diluted with water. You’re supposed to actually measure the amounts (the normal ‘recipe’ is 1T baking soda to 1C water, and the same for the ACV)… but let’s face it.. I’m lazy, so I just eyeballed a measurement of b/s into a bowl and added some water and went to town.
I was honestly amazed at how clean my hair got. And I was even more amazed when it didn’t look like a vat of oil had been dumped on my head the next morning! I’m almost a week into the no ‘poo thing, and I think I’ve washed my hair about three times. This is a VAST difference from the daily washing I used to give my hair. In between b/s cleanings, I’ve just rinsed my hair with water and massaged my scalp. I’m not noticing a difference with hair loss yet… but hopefully it will get better the longer I keep this up.
My hair already feels thicker, and seems to be a bit more pliable. I washed it this morning, and I think I need to play around a bit with the acidic rinse. I think the ACV is making my hair feel a bit more oily. I might try diluted lemon juice the next time I wash, which will probably be wednesday morning.
Yay for (hopefully, eventually) healthy hair!
But I want to do it at home. Tips/tricks/suggestions?
I’m so bad at being a girl. =\
